Instrument fleet

Instruments & technical capabilities

ARSN has a fleet of modern measuring instruments, regularly calibrated and verified, to ensure reliable and traceable measurements.

Portable ratemeters

Measurement of ambient dose rate H*(10) in µSv/h or mSv/h in the field. Energy from 15 keV to 10 MeV.

Gamma + X 15 keV–10 MeV Terrain

NaI gamma spectrometer

Identification and quantification of gamma-emitting radionuclides in samples or in the field.

NaI(Tl) 59–3000 keV Labo + terrain

Radon analyser

Measurement of radon-222 concentration in indoor air, mine galleries and outdoor. Continuous or instantaneous measurement.

Rn-222 10–300 000 Bq/m³ Mines / bâtiments

Contamination monitor

Detection and measurement of alpha and beta surface contamination in Bq/cm². Monitoring of persons, premises and equipment.

α + β Bq/cm² Surface

HPGe spectrometry

High-resolution gamma spectrometry for precise identification of radionuclides in complex matrices (water, soil, food).

HPGe Haute résolution Laboratoire

Individual dosimeters

Thermoluminescent (TLD) and electronic dosimeters for individual dose monitoring of exposed workers.

TLD + électronique Hp(10) Travailleurs
All ARSN measuring instruments are calibrated annually at a national ionising radiation metrology laboratory, ensuring traceability of measurements to national standards.
Application procedure

How to request technical support?

The request for technical support from ARSN follows a simple and quick procedure to guarantee a response in the shortest possible time.

01

Submit your request

Immédiat

Contact the Radiation Protection Directorate by mail, email or in person. Describe the type of support required, the context and urgency.

02

ARSN takes over

Sous 48 heures

An ARSN expert contacts you to precisely define the scope of support, the intervention date and the necessary preliminary information.

03

Intervention or analysis

Sur rendez-vous

The ARSN technical team carries out on-site measurements or analyses your samples in the laboratory. A preliminary report is communicated at the end.

04

Official report & recommendations

Within 15 days

ARSN provides you with an official report with quantified results, their regulatory interpretation and recommendations for actions to implement.

Who is this service for?

Technical support beneficiaries

ARSN's technical support is open to any institution or company with radiation protection needs, whether or not it holds an authorisation.

Healthcare facilities

Quality control of radiological equipment, dosimetry of medical personnel, training of medical physicists, assistance with authorisation files.

General public & associations

Reassurance radiological measurements after reporting of a suspicious source, neutral scientific information, awareness in mining areas.

ALARA

ALARA Principle — As Low As Reasonably Achievable

All ARSN technical support is guided by the ALARA principle (As Low As Reasonably Achievable): exposures to ionising radiation must be kept as low as reasonably achievable, taking into account economic and social constraints.

Temps Minimise exposure time
Distance Maximise distance from the source
Blindage Interpose appropriate shielding
