ARSN bases its action on a solid legislative and regulatory corpus, aligned with IAEA international standards and Niger's commitments on nuclear safety.
ARSN draws its authority directly from the law. An independent public institution created in 2016, it is vested with regulatory, inspection, sanctioning and licensing powers in all areas of peaceful use of nuclear energy and ionising radiation.
Its independence from the nuclear promoter is a fundamental requirement of nuclear safety, guaranteeing objective decisions based exclusively on technical and safety criteria.
ARSN's normative framework is organised into four complementary levels, from the most general to the most specific.
