An ambitious roadmap to strengthen nuclear regulation in Niger, align our practices with international standards and build a reference institution in Africa.
Niger is experiencing growing development of nuclear and radiological activities: uranium mining, medical applications, scientific research. Faced with these challenges, ARSN developed its Strategic Plan 2024–2028 to structure and strengthen its regulatory action.
This plan is aligned with IAEA international standards (IRRS, ARTEMIS) and Niger's sustainable development goals, ensuring that all use of radiation is carried out with absolute respect for the safety of people and the environment.
Each axis groups measurable operational objectives and priority actions with clear outcome indicators.
Modernise and complete the legislative and regulatory framework to bring it into line with the latest IAEA standards and cover all nuclear and radiological activities.
Double inspection capabilities by strengthening staffing, equipment and procedures to ensure effective monitoring of all regulated sources and facilities.
Develop a national radiological and nuclear emergency preparedness and response system, including a monitoring network, response teams and alert protocols.
Consolidate and develop partnerships with the IAEA, AFCONE and African peer authorities to benefit from technical assistance and share Niger's expertise.
Promote a nuclear safety culture among all stakeholders: health professionals, industries, students, media and the general public.
